The journalist informs us that a Scottish hospital is using a robotic arm, imported from the US firm Mako, to perform surgery on knees. The new technology should be more accurate than the traditional method and ensure more operations are successful.
The arm robot is used by surgeons to drill away bone damaged in the knee, which allow a replacement joint to be fitted. Surgeons control the robot and watch their movements on a screen, instead of watching straight at the opening patient‘s leg.
